This is the best way to start your spores off is on Agar. From the spore syringe or print. Add only a small amount to the agar dish. Watch the spores germinate and observe the growth characteristics of your study choice. You can then select and transfer clean and healthy sections of the resulting tissue growth to a second Agar dish or to a Liquid culture Jar.
Take clones of you largest or most prolific fruits. This way you can get the same results time after time or even store you favourite strains as tissue cultures in the fridge for several months @2-8degC
Supplied in dishwasher safe 250ml Sterifeed screw cap bottle. (BISPHENOL A FREE)
The Blue Smurf Agar is easy to use. Simply warm up the bottle and contents by placing the bottle in a pan of boiling water. Use a big pan. Make sure there is enough water to cover you Agar Bottles to at least 3/4 of their length and leave plenty of room for the boiling bubbling water. Boil the bottles until the agar mix is liquid. Remove from the pan with tongs and allow to cool until you can handle the bottles
All the ingredients inside the bottle are fully edible and so kitchen and human safe.
The Agar will need to be brought up to a temperature of at least 80 degrees centigrade to become liquid and will stay liquid at temperatures as low as 40c.
(I STRONGLY ADVISE YOU DO NOT USE THE MICROWAVE TO LIQUEFY THE AGAR. NO RESPONSIBILITY WILL BE TAKEN WHEN THE BOTTLE EXPLODES INSIDE THE MICROWAVE)
I advise you to work safe but with haste and to pour the mix as hot as you can handle for best results. Gecko fingers is a method of still holding and working with the bottle whilst switching between the fingers holding the bottle. This allow cooling of the fingers as you switch.
Have fun. Stay safe.
