Ontario Open International Jiu-Jitsu Tournament
The Ontario Open International Jiu-Jitsu Tournament in Toronto on the weekend of April 2/3 drew 1,100 participants from across North America, including Halifax, Calgary, and New York State. Among those attending were several students affiliated with the Ninja Jiu-Jitsu school in Stittsville.
And indeed, they did more than just participate. They brought home several medals from this tournament which allows students from vvarious jiu-jitsu styles to compete against one another.
- 1. Timmy Hickey of Stittsville captured the silver medal in the junior male No-Gi Light Featherweight division.
- 2. Shamus Callaghan on Munster earned the silver medal in the junior male No-Gi Light Middle-weight division.
- 3. A silver medal in the teen female Gi Lightweight division was earned by Julia Peterson of Munster.
- 4. Evan Peterson of Munster received the bronze medal in the Kids Gi Lightweight boys’ division.
- 5. Chelsea Rousson of North Gower earned two bronze medals, one in the junior female No-Gi Middleweight division, and another in the junior female Gi Middleweight division.
