About Our Production Partners

Last, but not least, the goal of this site is to promote cultural products that introduce and celebrate the lived experience and cherished traditions of lesser known communities across the globe.

“ The Tuareg of Agadez of the country of Niger and their artisan classes descend from an ancient people widely spread from the countries of the Sudan and Maghreb to east Africa in medieval times and responsible for some of the “Moorish dynasties” of Iberia and Africa. Many of their jewelry designs reflect their age-old connection to ancient North African towns like Carthage and the people that once wrote their script near the rock art of the Sahara and the Mediterranean. This script, known as “Tifinagh”, is considered to derive from the old Punic and in fact, is said to mean belonging to “Phoenicians”.

Although Niger is presently a poor country, Agadez like dozens of other towns across the Sahel has a rich history, and the true Tuareg only work with fine silver that their ancestors have produced for thousands of years. Hopefully we can help stimulate the artisan production and trade in the region that once flourished in this area of the Sahel or Niger. Our production group work not only with the highest quality silver but with quality gemstones and our prices reflect this quality. The items you will find in our shop, however, are priceless collectibles, created by a timeless craftspeople who have retained designs and symbols used centuries ago. I hope you enjoy the work of Niger’s artisans – the master masons and smiths of Agadez.”
