Rashed Nawaf wins Qatar Rail Tennis Open Tournament 2022

Qatar’s Rashed Nawaf claimed title of men’s event at Qatar Rail Tennis Open Tournament 2022 concluded at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex on Saturday.

In the final match of men’s event, Rashed Nawaf defeated Abdullah Khan 6-4 6-0.

Magdalena Kristo took the title of ladies’ event while Qatar’s Sheikha Khalifa finished second.

The Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation (QTSBF) Secretary General Tareq Zainal handed over trophies to winners. The medal ceremony was attended by the tournament director Sultan Khalfan.

Qatar’s Mousa Shanan teamed up with younger brother Essa Shanan to win the title of men’s doubles event following their victory over Rashed and Meshari Nawaf in the final match.

Cliff Acaso hoisted the trophy of veterans’ event after beating Ziad Smayra in the final match while Nelson Guo took the first place in boys under 18 years event ahead of Ghanim Al Sulaiti in the second place.

Safia Al Thani claimed the title of girls under 14 years event while Mashael Al Khenji finished second.

In girls under 12 years event, Lia Sheung Wong clinched the first place while Dorsaf Al Thani took the second place.

Zaenab Al Mutawa won girls under 10 years “green ball” event while Abdullah Al Thani won boys event.

Lina Ramadan claimed the first place in girls’ orange ball event while Qatar’s Jawaher Gassama finished second.

In boys’ orange ball event, Qatar’s Ali Majed defeated Matteo Abis in the final match to claim the title.

The QTSBF Secretary General Tareq Zainal, said “I want to congratulate the winners and I wish them good luck in the upcoming event.”

“We are proud of the cooperation with Qatar Rail, which is one of the leading national corporations in proving support to our athletes in the state of Qatar.” He added.

Zainal stressed that the partnership with Qatar Rail reflects the development of Tennis in the state of Qatar. He also hailed the contribution of national companies to the development of sport in our beloved nation.
