An Overview of Mindfulness

What exactly is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is defined as both awareness and acceptance. The knowledge and ability to focus attention on one’s inner processes and experiences in the present moment is referred to as awareness. Acceptance is the ability to observe and accept streams of thought without reacting or judging them.

Meditation practises that aim to quiet the mind and achieve a higher level of consciousness can promote mindfulness.

Mindfulness Has Many Advantages
Mindfulness improves both physical and mental health. Mindfulness meditation has been identified as an important component in the treatment of a variety of issues, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, stress, adjustment problems, and conflict. It assists us in becoming more aware of our thoughts and feelings so that, rather than being overwhelmed by them, we can better manage and regulate them.

Mindfulness has been shown to improve physical health. Mindfulness can help reduce stress, blood pressure, chronic pain, improve sleep, and alleviate gastrointestinal issues.

Meditation Techniques

This meditation focuses on breathing because the physical sensation of breathing is always present and may be used to anchor yourself to the present moment. Throughout the practise, you may become distracted by thoughts, emotions, or sounds. Wherever your thoughts wander, simply return to the next breath. It’s fine if you only come back once.
